Bozo To Dole: Don’t Demean The Clown

Associated Press

Don’t clown around with Bozo, he doesn’t like it.

When Bob Dole referred to President Clinton as Bozo during a campaign stop here Tuesday, television’s original Bozo, Larry Harmon, was not amused.

“It irks me when people use the character’s name in a demeaning way,” Harmon said. “It’s like attacking motherhood and apple pie for heaven’s sake.”

“Bozo’s a good luck charm,” Harmon said. “Look what it did for President Clinton. Bush called him a Bozo, Clinton shot back that Bozo makes people laugh and … went laughing all the way to the White House.”
