Conference Focus Will Be Church Unity

Lidgerwood Presbyterian Church is hosting a conference next week that promises to help pastors and lay leaders learn how to make their churches more welcoming and enhance unity.

The conference, which begins at 8 a.m. next Thursday at Lidgerwood Presbyterian, 4449 N. Nevada, will provide orientation in a 50-day plan called “The Church You’ve Always Longed For: What You Can Do to Make It Happen.”

The conference, sponsored by The Chapel Ministries, will also offer tips on how to increase giving and how to make the most of financial resources.

Registration is $89 and includes lunch and a church starter kit. Walk-in registrants are welcome. For more information or to register in advance, call (800) 224-2735.

Welsh songfest Sunday

A Welsh songfest will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 1620 N. Monroe.

The songfest will include four-part singing and a harp player, long a Welsh tradition.

Songs will be sung in English and Welsh. All are invited to attend. The songfest is free, but a goodwill offering will be collected to cover expenses.

St. Francis auction

St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church is holding a gourmet dinner and auction Oct. 26 to benefit the church school.

The theme is “An Evening in the South Pacific.” Items such as crafts, tools, sports equipment and memorabilia, and gift certificates will be auctioned. A silent auction will begin at 6:15 p.m. followed by dinner at 7:30 p.m. A loud auction, which begins at 8:30 p.m., will complete the evening at the school, 545 E. Providence.

Advance reservations are required. Tickets are $15 each or $13 for seniors. For reservations or more information call the church office at 487-6363 or the school office at 487-1571.

Craft fair begins Friday

First Church of the Nazarene, 9004 N. Country Homes Blvd., is holding a craft fair from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Proceeds will benefit the women’s ministries.

Seventy booths will feature art and crafts from Northwest artists.

Admission is $1; children under the age of 12 are free.

Play at Friends Church

Friends Acting Troupe of Spokane Friends Church will be putting on a play at 11 a.m. Sunday at the church, 1612 W. Dalke.

The 45-minute play, “Bridge of Blood,” is about a group of missionaries who worked with the Auca Indians in Ecuador and the murder of several members of the group.
