Businessman Sues Over New Jail

From Staff And Wire Reports

Businessman Randell Brown has made good on his threat to push on with his lawsuit to block construction of the new Bonneville County jail.

Brown filed an appeal on Wednesday of 7th District Judge Greg Anderson’s Aug. 29 ruling in favor of Bonneville County. Brown beat the filing deadline by a day.

His suit alleges the county commission lied to the public during its campaign for the $7.4 million bond election in May. He conceded Wednesday that he likely would not win the case. However, he said last week, “We’re going to irritate them right to the end.”

The county cannot sell the bonds to finance the jail until the lawsuit is cleared. No date has been set for Anderson to hear the appeal.
