Ex-Student’s Rape Charge Dropped

From Staff And Wire Reports

A rape charge against former Boise State University student body Vice President Darryl Wright has been dropped a year after the alleged incident occurred.

Nez Perce County Prosecutor Denise Rosen told 2nd District Judge Ronald Schilling that she decided to drop the charge in the interests of justice since FBI laboratory analyses failed to validate key evidence.

In addition, the alleged victim had maintained she could remember nothing from the early morning period in question on Oct. 15 during a student leader meeting in Moscow.

Attorney Dean Wullenwaber blasted Lewiston police detective Alan Johnson for sloppy investigating.

Wright, 29, spent nearly $30,000 in defending himself against the now-dismissed charge and was bitter about the damage to his reputation.
