Elderly Woman Kills Ill Husband, Herself

An elderly woman fatally shot her hospitalized husband and then killed herself Friday, hours after they were told he might need to be moved to a nursing home because of his broken leg.

Robert Ray Tucker, 81, a patient at St. Francis Hospital since Monday, was shot twice in the head with a .38-caliber revolver, sheriff’s Lt. Terence Brooks said.

Tucker’s 74-year-old wife, Hattie Mae, was found slumped in a chair at his bedside with a gunshot wound to her head.
