Fern Miles May Fruitland, Wash.
Service for Fern (Boyd) Miles May, 86, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Hunters (Wash.) Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Hunters. Strate Funeral Home in Davenport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Boone County, Mo., Mrs. May died Wednesday.
She graduated from high school in Nebraska, and later from Eastern Washington University.
She taught school in Cle Elum, Wash., and in the Fruitland and Colville, Wash., area.
She was Member of the Colville United Methodist Church, and the Washington State Teachers Association.
Three husbands preceded her in death; Ruppert Kennedy, Harold Miles and Will May.
She is survived by a daughter, Margaret Hessner of Salmon, Idaho; three sons, Jack Kennedy of Prosser, Wash., Gene Kennedy of Fruitland, and Glenn Kennedy of Deer Park; a brother, Dean Boyd of West Plains, Mo.; a sister, Mary Jo Hudspeth of Fruitland; 18 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Clella ‘Claire’ Miller Spokane
Memorial service for Clella “Claire” Miller, 87, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Miller, a longtime Spokane resident, died Thursday.
She was born in Kansas City and graduated from Lewis and Clark High School. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Valley Senior Center.
Her husband of 44 years, Ellsworth Miller, died in 1990.
Mrs. Miller is survived by a daughter, Diane Ayers of Greenacres; a son, Gene Foedisch of Spokane; a brother, Ray Christison of Eugene, Ore.; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
Russell Smith Bellingham
Private service for Russell John Smith, 71, a retired Eastern Washington University accounting professor, will be held at a later date. Jones-Moles Funeral Home in Bellingham, is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Smith, who died Oct. 7, was born in Fostoria, Ohio.
He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and after the war received a business administration degree from Bowling Green State University. He later received a master’s of business administration degree from the University of Denver and attended graduate school at the University of Oregon.
He served in various positions at the College of Idaho in Caldwell and at Adams State College in Alamosa, Colo. He taught accounting at Eastern Washington University from 1955 until he retired as professor of accounting emeritus in 1980.
After he retired, Mr. Smith moved to Southern California and traveled up and down the West Coast in his motorhome. He settled Bellingham in 1990.
He was a member of the Theta Chi and Phi Alpha Chi fraternities, the Elks Lodge and the American Legion.
He is survived by two daughters, Diana Moran and Trisha Lockhart, both of Bellingham; a son, Michael Thompson of Boise; his former wife, Betty Thompson of Boise; and five grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or the Cornerstone Foundation, for a science laboratory for high school students at Cornerstone Preparatory School in Bellingham.
