Small Planes Collide On Oregon Runway

From Staff And Wire Reports

Two small planes belonging to friends meeting for breakfast collided while landing Saturday morning at the Albany Municipal Airport.

Both planes were damaged, but no one was seriously hurt.

Jim Hutchins, 53, of Corvallis had just landed his single-engine Cessna 172 on the south end of the runway.

His friend, Wayne Ensey, 45, of Albany, piloting a biplane, was behind him. Ensey said he couldn’t see the Cessna and came down atop it.

The two planes rolled to a stop about 75 yards from each other.
