Jennifer Capriati, making her second consecutive start in Europe, beat Gabriela Sabatini 6-3, 6-4 in the first round of the European Indoor tennis tournament at Zurich, Switzerland.

Capriati, the 20-year-old making a comeback from drug problems, took advantage of Sabatini’s four double-faults in the first set and broke the Argentine to take a 3-1 lead in the second set.

Capriati made her first appearance since the U.S. Open last week in the Porsche Grand Prix at Filderstadt, Germany, where she lost a second-round match to top-seeded Arantxa Sanchez Vicario.

U.S. tax officials have asked German authorities to tell them how much of tennis star Steffi Graf’s income might be taxable in the United States, a state prosecutor said.

Hubert Jobski made the disclosure during the tax evasion trial of Graf’s father Peter. The U.S. and Germany have an agreement to avoid double taxation on income.
