No Bulls For Wgn

Compiled From Wire Services

The NBA champion Chicago Bulls won’t be seen on superstation WGN this season. The Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals in Kansas City, Mo., issued a decision that temporarily prevents the national satellite feed of Bulls’ telecasts to cable systems while the case is returned to Federal District Court.

The 35 Bulls’ telecasts will be replaced by movies and other programming.

The NBA has spent $20 million in litigation during the last six years in trying to curb the number of games shown on WGN, saying the superstation’s telecasts saturate the market.

Sacramento Kings center Olden Polynice was arrested at his home in Sacramento on domestic assault charges after his live-in girlfriend complained he yanked keys from her hand and threw her against a wall, police said.

Dominique Wilkins cannot play for the San Antonio Spurs for at least a week because his former team in the Greek League still claims to have him under contract. The dispute will be settled at an arbitration hearing in London next week.

In San Antonio, jurors convicted former NBA All-Star Alvin Robertson of one count of burglary stemming from a rampage at his ex-girlfriend’s apartment. The trial’s punishment phase begins Monday.

First-round draft pick Ray Allen sustained bruised ribs during a practice and will miss the Milwaukee Bucks’ two weekend exhibition games.

Dallas Mavericks vice president for operations Keith Grant, who has been with the team since its inception 16 years ago, resigned, citing “an element of burnout.”

The Mavericks also announced the signing of Oliver Miller, a 6-foot-9 free agent center who played last season with the Toronto Raptors. Terms of the one-year deal were not disclosed.

The Philadelphia 76ers signed center-forward Mark Bradtke, a three-time Australian Olympian, to shore up the team’s front-line strength.
