Yakima Paper Endorses Locke

From Staff And Wire Reports

Democrat Gary Locke has won the endorsement of the Yakima Herald-Republic for governor.

“To be a good leader in government, one must exhibit solid, visionary leadership while realizing it must be tempered with the need to seek the compromise and consensus to achieve your goals.

“Locke has this ability; his Republican opponent, Ellen Craswell, does not,” the newspaper said in a Sunday editorial.

The newspaper found Craswell too rigid to govern effectively.

In other races, the Democratic candidate for treasurer, Mike Murphy, got the nod from The News Tribune of Tacoma.
