Forum Scheduled In Sheriff’s Race

There will be a public forum for Shoshone County sheriff’s candidates Thursday.

Sheriff Dan Schierman, a Democrat, and independent candidate Tim Castle will be on hand to answer questions from the public beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Rena Theatre in Kellogg.

It is not a traditional debate. Instead, “it’s designed to get the public involved and to let them ask us questions,” said Castle, who organized the forum.

Larry Irvine, a write-in candidate, has not been invited to the forum. But Irvine will be allowed to participate if he attends “as long as it’s nice and cordial,” Castle said.

“Free speech and everything is good but we’re there for a purpose,” Castle explained. “I can’t see people coming in there to disrupt.

“Let’s answer questions and inform the public,” he said.
