South Korea To Supply Boeing Parts
Korean Air Lines Co., South Korea’s national airline, has agreed to supply Boeing Co. with wing flaps and tips for a Boeing aircraft under development, Dow Jones News Service reported.
The contract is expected to be valued at around $600 million.
Under the pact, Korean Air, a unit of the Hanjin Group, will provide the wing parts for the Boeing super-jumbo jet, called B747-X, the official said. The B747-X will be designed to carry 500 to 600 passengers.
Korean Air plans to begin manufacturing the components at its plant in Kimhae, South Korea, some 270 miles southeast of Seoul, in June 1998, the official said.
