Birthday Party Ends In Jail

From Staff Reports

A Spokane woman celebrating her 21st birthday Tuesday was in jail by the end of the night.

Risa Tonasket of 2427 East Central called police to say her boyfriend, Brian Dick, had assaulted her, according to a police report.

When officers arrived, they discovered Tonasket had an outstanding warrant for her arrest.

Armed with a knife, she refused to let police inside the house. She kicked the officers before being handcuffed, and later kicked out a patrol car window, police said.

Tonasket was arrested for third-degree assault, resisting arrest, obstructing officers and malicious mischief.

Dick, 25, was treated at an area hospital for a knife wound allegedly inflicted by Tonasket. He was jailed for fourth-degree assault after a witness told police Dick initiated the fight with his girlfriend.

Police said Dick was bounced from Swackhammer’s restaurant-bar after assaulting Tonasket earlier Tuesday night.
