Man Pleads Innocent To Bomb Scare

From Staff And Wire Reports

The man accused of starting an Aug. 31 bomb scare at the Idaho Falls Airport has pleaded innocent to the charge.

John Greenwald, 50, of Idaho Falls, is charged with a felony count of false reporting of a bomb. A trial was set for Dec. 16 after Greenwald entered his plea Wednesday in 7th District Court. He faces up to five years in prison if convicted.

Greenwald raised airport employees’ suspicions after he tried to check luggage onto a plane he was not intending to board, according to police reports.

When he was refused, Greenwald put his duffle bag in an airport locker and said it would not be his fault if someone placed a bomb in the locker overnight, police said.

Police were called and the bag was removed from the locker, taken away and blown up. Inside the bag authorities found two orange gloves, a magnifying glass, plastic sock clips and a portrait of Greenwald and former Republican presidential candidate Pat Buchanan.
