Steinberg Wants George To Pay Visit To Distracted Seahawks

Mcclatchy News Service

Leigh Steinberg, agent for newly unemployed quarterback Jeff George, is trying to talk to his client about making a visit to the Seattle Seahawks soon.

Concerned about creating a distraction, the Seahawks’ front office is trying to decide when to bring him to town.

“Seattle has talked with us about doing a trip up there, but it’s not planned,” Steinberg said. “I’d like him to do it. If it’s not (today), maybe it will be sometime in the next couple of weeks.”

This week could be a problem for the Seahawks. They are 2-5. They have an important AFC West game against the San Diego Chargers, who come to the Kingdome with a two-game losing streak and without four injured starters.

Coach Dennis Erickson calls Sunday’s game “as important a game as we’ve played in since I’ve been coach here.”

Maybe this might not be the right time to create a George distraction.

“Right now, we’re going with the football team and the quarterbacks we have right now,” Erickson said. “I don’t plan on changing.”
