Davenport Rallies, Picks Up Key Victory

Jeremiah Johnson’s 3-yard touchdown run on a sweep with 3 minutes left Friday lifted fifth-ranked Davenport (6-1, 5-1) to a key 36-28 Northeast B-11 win at seventh-ranked Reardan (5-2, 3-2).

Reardan led 28-12 before Davenport tight end Luke Hammond caught a 52-yard TD pass from Dale Buchanan in the third quarter. Hammond also caught passes for 2-point conversions after that TD, and after Travis Telecky’s 3-yard TD in the fourth quarter and Johnson’s final score.

Reardan was driving with 5 minutes left when it lost a fumble at its 35. Reardan’s Nate Graham finished 14 of 28 passing for 256 yards, and rushed for 88 yards on eight carries. Davenport’s Josh FitzPatrick rushed for 158 yards on 18 carries.

Davenport solidified its playoff chances while Reardan is in a scramble with Ritzville (4-2, 3-2), Wilbur-Creston and Liberty. W-C and Ritzville play Friday; Liberty and Reardan play Nov. 8 to end the season.

Liberty 20, Curlew 7

Scott Degon rushed for 105 yards on 17 carries as the visiting Lancers (3-4, 3-2) beat the Cougars (2-5, 1-5.)

Liberty had 235 total yards.

Curlew’s Elliott Edwards rushed for 102 yards on 24 carries.

W-C 44, Springdale 6

Joel Waters and Casey Kuchenbuch combined for 268 yards on 14 carries to guide the Wilbur-Creston Wildcats (5-2, 4-2) over the visiting Chargers (1-5, 1-4).

W-C rushed for 300 yards. Springdale rushed for 165 but was held to 5 yards passing.

SOUTHEAST B-11

DeSales 40, Tek.-Oak. 19

Brian Lindgren finished 26 of 37 for 427 yards and six TDs as the fourth-ranked Irish (7-0, 3-0) beat the host Nighthawks (1-6, 0-3) at Oakesdale and eliminated them from playoff contention.

Joe Levens and Michael Wolfram combined for 18 catches for 289 yards.

Gar-Pal 42, Pomeroy 8

Joe Hall rushed for 179 yards on 20 carries and the Vikings (5-2, 2-1) had four interceptions to beat the visiting Pirates (1-5, 0-3).

Garfield-Palouse’s Korry Sheffler had nine tackles, four assists and one interception.

Asotin 29, Waitsburg 6

The sixth-ranked Panthers (6-0, 3-0) stayed tied for the league lead and set up next week’s showdown with DeSales by beating the host Cardinals (4-2, 1-2).

NON-LEAGUE

Republic 69, Selkirk 0

Mark Rickard had four receptions for 126 yards and notched his 28th career interception - second all-time in the state - as the second-ranked Tigers (7-0, 6-0) beat the visiting Rangers (1-6, 0-5) in a non-league game between league rivals.

Republic held Selkirk to 55 yards total offense. The game was non-league to keep NEB-11 matchups equal after Sprague-Harrington dropped out of the league.

Kittitas 26, ACH 21

Miah Grindrod rushed 17 times for 135 yards as the visiting Coyotes (4-3) beat the Warriors (2-5).

Topher Goodwin rushed for 54 yards, Jason Pierce passed for 106 and Luke Winona had 10 tackles for Almira-Coulee/Hartline.
