Virginia Bags Piper

One of Scotland’s leading bagpipes players is moving to the United States, driven away by neighbors who say his piping creates “noise pollution.”

Gary Stronach, one of only 25 professional bagpipe teachers in Scotland, agreed to teach this fall at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va. after his local council warned him against practicing at home.

Perth residents say his music could be heard a half-mile away.
