Wac Goes For New Zealand’s Bowl Game

Associated Press

The Western Athletic Conference agreed Wednesday to send its third-place finisher to the inaugural Haka Bowl in Auckland, New Zealand, WAC Commissioner Karl Benson said Wednesday.

The WAC representative will play the third-place team from the Pacific 10 Conference at 50,000-seat Eden Park on Dec. 27. The teams will split $3 million.

“Being aligned with the Haka Bowl is obviously a great opportunity for the Western Athletic Conference, its teams and fans,” Benson said. “The excitement of international travel, combined with college football competition, will make for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”
