Carnival, Music Comes To Opportunity Presbyterian

Opportunity Presbyterian Church, 202 N. Pines, will be holding a huge parking lot carnival today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

Local country-western singer Billy Reynolds will be performing at 10 a.m. today, followed by The Planetary Refugees at noon. The Brownlee Family will perform Sunday morning. Radio station KDRK will also be in attendance both days.

Barney the dinosaur and a clown will be there to entertain the children and a fire truck, ambulance, and a Spokane Country Sheriff’s D.A.R.E. car will entertain young and old alike. Antique cars, an RV, and a race car will also be on display.

There will also be free balloons and free face painting.

Hot dogs and pop will be available for 50 cents.

Ministry fair at Christ Lutheran

Christ Lutheran Church, 13009 E. Broadway, will be holding its annual ministry fair Sunday from 9:30 to 11 a.m.

Each church organization will be there to present information on what they do.

There will also be a carnival. Tickets for the carnival games are 25 cents each. The money will be used to benefit P.A.L.S. for Christ, a parent co-op ministry that focuses on learning and sharing by both parents and children.

The P.A.L.S. for Christ group will meet at Christ Lutheran every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. starting this week.

Food and refreshments will be available at the fair for a minimal charge.

Former pastor speaking at Berean

Bruce Kemper, president of Grace Bible College in Grand Rapids, Mich., will be a guest speaker Sunday at Berean Bible Church, 10910 E. Boone.

Kemper will speak at both the 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. services.

He was the pastor at The Berean Bible Church when it began 26 years ago. After seven years in Spokane, the Seattle native was a pastor for churches in California and Western Washington before going to Grace Bible College in 1990.

Kemper will be speaking about the college, as well as speaking to people interested in attending.

Sunday school classes starting

The Veradale United Church of Christ, 611 N. Progress Road, will be starting its Sunday School classes on Sunday.

No advance registration is required and the classes are free.

An intergenerational service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Children wishing to attend Sunday school should attend that service.

Following the service, there will be a potluck lunch for the community. The church will provide beverages and place settings. Families are asked to bring two food items and singles to bring one item.
