Donald Sellers threw four touchdown passes and Ramos McDonald returned a first-half interception 46 yards for a score Saturday night in New Mexico’s 49-33 win over Northern Arizona at Albuquerque, N.M.

Sellers was 15-of-26 for 222 yards as New Mexico (2-0) opened a season with back-to-back wins for the first time since 1989.

Northern Arizona (1-1), a Division I-AA member that scored 75 points in beating Western New Mexico last week, had 619 yards of total offense to 595 yards for New Mexico, but the Lobos cashed in on most of their scoring chances.

Sellers threw TD passes of 58 yards and 12 yards to Bertrand Martin, 18 yards to Jeremy Banks and 9 yards to Tommy Hemphill, while fullback Chris Shelton ran 64 yards for another score.

NAU redshirt freshman Travis Brown threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score. Tailback Archie Amerson rushed for 197 yards, caught five passes for 75 yards and scored twice.

New Mexico, up 21-14 with 2:44 left in the first half, scored on its next three possessions to break the game open. The Lobos put together scoring drives of 90, 71 and 77 yards and Sellers completed 9 of 13 passes in the three drives.

Northern Arizona scored twice late in the fourth quarter on a Brown to Ray Flores pass and on a 19-yard run by Amerson, who also caught five passes for 75 yards.

Hofstra 33, Sacramento St. 3

At Hempstead, N.Y., Giovanni Carmazzi, who transferred from Pacific when the California school dropped football, threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to Erik Michael as the Flying Dutchmen (1-0) defeated the Hornets (0-1), Pacific’s nearby neighbor.

Second-string quarterback Arthur Asselta had a 57-yard touchdown pass to Jauron McKelvin for Hofstra, which received a school record-tying four field goals from Dave Ettinger.

Tony Corbin passed for 199 yards for Sacramento (0-1), but he was intercepted four times.

Idaho St. 35, Cal Poly SLO 32 (OT)

At Pocatello, Idaho, Shane Griggs threw three touchdown passes to rally the Bengals (1-1) from a 25-0 deficit to beat the Mustangs (0-1) in overtime.

Griggs’ 54-yard bomb to Elliott Giles with 49 seconds in regulation tied the game at 32-32.

In overtime, Allen Beilke missed a 45-yard field goal for Cal Poly San Luis, and ISU capitalized when James Ferrell drilled a 20-yarder to win it.

Utah St. 57, CS Northridge 27

At Logan, Utah, Abu Wilson became the Big West Conference’s all-time career rushing leader as he rambled for three touchdowns to lead the Aggies (2-0) to an easy victory over the Matadors (0-1).

Wilson, who gained 139 yards on 19 carries, also tied Utah State’s 35-year-old record for career rushing touchdowns (29). The senior running back from Oakland, Calif., scored first on a 61-yard scamper four plays into the game.

USU never trailed against the Big Sky Conference I-AA Matadors, who were led by former Aggies quarterback Aaron Flowers.

Boise St. 33, Portland St. 22

Quarterback Tony Hilde passed for 205 yards and one touchdown and ran 60 yards for another score to lead the Broncos to their non-conference win over the Vikings (0-1) in Boise.
