Child Molester Asks, Gets Life Sentence

Compiled From Wire Services

A man convicted of kidnapping two small boys to sexually assault them asked for a life sentence Monday to make himself a lesson for other would-be child molesters.

“Once you say the word ‘life,’ I feel I’ll be free of worrying about it,” Boyd Dean Weekley, 24, told U.S. District Judge David McKeague in a rambling, contrite monologue.

The judge replied, “Mr. Weekley, you’ve gotten your wish.”

The boys, ages 3 and 11, sons of migrant farm workers from Mission Texas, were abducted from a parking lot near Benton Harbor last fall. Weekley spent 10 days on the road with them, sometimes sexually abusing the older boy and beating the younger, and sometimes buying toys for both of them.
