New Fugazzi Owners To Expand Business

From Staff And Wire Reports

The new owners of Fugazzi Bakery and Cafe, a restaurant in downtown Spokane, plan to expand the business.

Joe and Mary Dinnison, who bought Fugazzi last week, also own the Whitten and Miller buildings next door.

The Dinnisons plan to move Fugazzi’s bakery from 1 N. Post and replace it with a bar and lounge. They’re looking for a new location for the bakery either downtown or on the South Hill. The bakery will provide retail and wholesale sales to grocery stores and restaurants.

Other plans being considered by the Dinnisons include developing a catering business and in-house party facilities.

The expansion should be complete by spring of 1997.

The purchase of Fugazzi rounds out the Dinnisons’ holdings in the area. Joe Dinnison has said in the past that he plans to build a 40-room hotel in the Whitten and Miller buildings, but has not elaborated on those plans.

Fugazzi was opened in December 1994 by Kit Garrett and Bobby Hancock. The couple sold the restaurant and plans to return to Kentucky to be close to family.
