ANALYSIS

The Hawks, who couldn’t solve Denver’s and San Diego’s defenses, encounter an even tougher unit. The Chiefs beg teams to throw, then turn loose one of the league’s best pass rushes.

Cornerbacks James Hasty, who specializes in jamming receivers at the line, and Dale Carter, who uses raw speed, could neutralize Seattle’s Joey Galloway and Brian Blades. TE Christian Fauria could become Hawks’ most prominent weapon.

If Seattle can shake its turnover tendency, it should be able to stay close. Chiefs’ offense is mediocre at best and feasts off enemy mistakes.

Today’s question: Should QB Rick Mirer and the offense remain mired, how quickly does coach Dennis Erickson go to John Friesz?

Today’s criticism: Why did Erickson kowtow to Mirer after making the switch last Sunday? Erickson should have told Mirer, “Produce, or I’ll do it again.”
