Kenneth Hisel Moscow

Viewing for Kenneth F. Hisel, 74, will be on Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Short’s Funeral Chapel in Moscow. Service will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Hisel, who was born in Moscow, died Friday from cancer.

He grew up and graduated from high school in Moscow in 1940, before serving with the Navy during World War II aboard the submarine tender, U.S.S. Bushnell.

After his military discharge, he returned to Moscow and worked at the University of Idaho as a chemistry storekeeper on campus. He transferred to the campus power plant and worked as an operator for six years. He retired in 1982 after 34 years.

He spent his time after retirement living in Moscow and the family cabin at Camp Bay near Sandpoint and was a 28-year member of the Moscow Volunteer Fire Department.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Barbara; son, Mark Hisel, of Moscow; two sisters, Helen Uribe of California, and Jennie Grunerud of Pullman, Wash.

Memorials may be made to the Moscow Volunteer Fire Department.

Pearl Winch Coeur d’Alene

Graveside service for Pearl Julia Winch, 91, will be today at 11 a.m. at the old section of Forest Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Winch, who was born in Minnesota, died Friday.

She moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1922 from Minnesota and was a homemaker. She was a lifetime Lutheran and a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Coeur d’Alene.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond.

Survivors include a son, Gary Forness of Spokane; daughter, Dorothy Kirking of Dalton Gardens; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
