Friskiest Cat’s Co-Star Goes Unrewarded

Shadow, of Seguin, Texas, has been named the friskiest cat in America while Bubba, Shadow’s co-star in a contest video, was apparently ignored by contest judges.

As the grand prize winner of “The Friskiest Cat in America” contest, Shadow - owned by Chris Elley - won a starring role in a Friskies PetCare Co. commercial to air this month, $2,500 in cash, a one-year supply of Friskies Cat Food and a Friskies cat feeder.

Hundreds of video tape contest entries of frisky felines from coast to coast were submitted. Elley’s videotape entry included a skit featuring Shadow and his feline accomplice Bubba in an “America’s Most Wanted” style script. Close-ups of the cats’ mug shots and dialogue about their various crimes started off the plot.

The entry also featured Shadow and Bubba pouncing and frolicking through their cat house and tossing their toys playfully.

While not specifying Bubba’s shortcomings, an unidentified Friskies officials said Shadow’s performance best captured the image of a happy, healthy and frisky cat.
