Police Hold Hippie From Letterman Show

Compiled From Wire Services

A hippie who gained fame as a movie critic on “Late Show with David Letterman” and stands accused of violating probation on a marijuana conviction turned himself in to authorities Monday.

“Manny the Hippie,” whose real name is Micah Papp, was taken to the Greene County jail, and was to appear in court Tuesday.

Papp, 20, of San Francisco, was sentenced in March to five years’ probation after pleading guilty to a marijuana trafficking charge here.

The county prosecutor’s office said Papp violated his probation by leaving the state for California without the court’s permission.

Ohio officials had asked San Francisco police to apprehend Papp when they saw him doing movie reviews on Letterman’s “Late Show.”
