The Slice Don’t Worry, It’s Patriotic To Disagree

Married couples effectively canceling out each other’s vote is the American way.

Name density: Out of 27 employees, Northside Internal Medicine has four people named Kathy or Cathy.

At Garwin Products, there are three women and two men. Both of the guys are named Bob.

At the Yoke’s on Indian Trail, there are five Matts. “They are all great employees,” added the reader who faxed us.

At the Yoke’s on Foothills Drive, they have four Scotts. Three of them are managers.

And at Cheney Realty, the secretaries are Cathy Jean Walter and Cathy Jean Wahl.

What’s worse than listening to your co-workers after they’ve been drinking: “Listening to your coworkers before they’ve been drinking.” - Kelly Ann Collier

“Listening to them the morning after they have been drinking.” - Skip Hubbard

We’ve heard it argued both ways: So now we’re asking you. Are roaches a quality-of-life issue in the Inland Northwest?

Things former Seattle area residents miss: Seeing Mount Rainier on clear days, said Dayle Spahr.

“The smell of salt air, especially if it’s overlaid with the scent of creosote from pier pilings,” said Carolyn Wright. “What do I miss least? I haven’t room to list them all and you don’t have room to print them.”

Terry Kapner misses day trips to the ocean. “Now it takes a day just to get there.”

Marci Kennedy misses freeway drivers who understand the concept of a passing lane.

The risks you take when you go out: A reader named Greg was at an upscale Spokane restaurant before the James Taylor concert. He heard a clipping noise. “You guessed it,” he wrote. “Some moron was clipping his nails at the table. I watched in disbelief, giving the play-by-play to my wife. That was hard enough to believe, but when he grabbed his fork to scratch his back, I lost it.

“The concert? As long as you ask…have you ever been trapped in an elevator with 10,000 people?”

Today’s Slice question: If you had been a tribal leader in the West in the 1870s with access to nuclear weapons, would you have used them against the Americans?
