Bishop Who Ran Off Has Plans To Marry

Compiled From Wire Services

The Roman Catholic bishop who resigned after disappearing with a woman parishioner is sharing a home with her and hopes to marry her, according to the tabloid newspaper that bought the couple’s story.

The Most Rev. Roderick Wright, former bishop of the Scottish diocese of Argyll and the Isles, also acknowledged he has a 15-year-old son by another woman and apologized for hurting the boy, the News of the World said.

Wright’s decision to sell his story to a sensationalist newspaper has further shaken the Catholic Church here and stoked a debate about the church’s rule that priests must be celibate.
