Buffalo’s Injuries Mount

Associated Press

The Buffalo Bills have three victories and two injured quarterbacks.

Todd Collins, filling in for the injured Jim Kelly as Buffalo’s quarterback, sprained his right ankle late in the third quarter of the Bills’ 10-7 victory over Dallas on Sunday.

Collins went down when he was sacked by the Cowboys’ Hurvin McCormack, and did not return. He was replaced on the next series by Alex Van Pelt, with whom he alternates from week to week as the backup for Kelly, who pulled a hamstring in practice last week.

In the same game, Buffalo defensive end Phil Hansen sustained a concussion in the fourth quarter making a tackle on Emmitt Smith. Dallas wide receiver Kevin Williams missed most of the second half with an injured right foot.

On the Cowboys’ last offensive play, Aikman was hit by Bruce Smith and Shawn Price as he released the ball, and the Dallas QB slightly sprained his right knee and ankle.

Elsewhere, Chiefs receiver Lake Dawson was taken off the field on a cart in the second quarter with a right knee sprain and did not return.

Saints cornerback J.J. McCleskey strained a hamstring in the third quarter and missed the rest of the game.

Chris Warren, Seattle’s leading rusher, left the Seahawks’ game with Tampa Bay suffering from dehydration in the fourth quarter and missed their two long drives for touchdowns.

Running back Harvey Williams strained his right calf in the third quarter for Oakland and did not return to the game.
