Disgraced Adviser’s Wife Wavering

The wife of Dick Morris, who resigned from President Clinton’s re-election campaign in a sex scandal, says she’s staying with her husband - for now - because she can’t abandon her “best friend.”

“I never said, ‘I’m standing by this man no matter what.’ Somebody else said that,” Eileen McGann told Newsweek. “I don’t know where I’m going to be six months or a year from now. I’m taking it day by day.”

Morris, architect of Clinton’s centrist re-election strategy, quit the campaign after a supermarket tabloid published an account of trysts between Morris and a $200-an-hour prostitute.

After the scandal broke, Morris and his wife gave a press conference, resulting in a backlash among some feminists because McGann seemed to take the events in stride.
