Georgia Tech Tops Duke

Compiled From Wire Services

Joe Hamilton hooked up with Harvey Middleton on two touchdown passes, C.J. Williams rushed for more than 100 yards and scored a TD and the defense scored twice - all in the first half - in Georgia Tech’s 48-22 rout of winless Duke.

Tech (3-1, 3-1 ACC) had 310 yards of offense in the opening 30 minutes and a 38-0 lead.

Duke (0-4, 0-2 ACC) managed only 95 yards of offense in the first half.

No. 1 Florida, already averaging 184 yards rushing, now is a lot deeper at tailback. Fred Taylor is off suspension. Taylor has had his month-long suspension reduced by a week and is available to play Saturday at Kentucky.

Miami offensive tackle Ricky Perry may begin practicing with the team again on Monday after prosecutors dropped three of four criminal charges against him.

But Perry will be barred from games because of the remaining charge against him, coach Butch Davis said. If he is cleared of that charge, Perry would be allowed to play in games but could not start.
