Young Dancers Sought For ‘Toy Shelf’ Parts

Dance Theatre Northwest will hold auditions for its December production next Saturday at The Academy of Dance, 14214 E. Sprague.

There are up to 26 roles available for children in “The Toy Shelf.”

Twelve of the roles require dancers to play schoolchildren. Dancers must be between 7 and 13 years old and 4-foot-9 or shorter. One to two years of dance training is required.

Other roles include: three bears for dancers ages 9-13, between 4-foot-2 and 5-foot-4, with two to four years of ballet training; five skunks, ages 6-8, up to 4-foot-4, with at least one year dance training; up to six dolls, at least 9 years old, up to 5-foot-7, and three to five years of dance training.

The play will be choreographed by Janet Wilder and presented at The Met on Dec. 15 at 2 and 7 p.m.
