Cal Poly Slo Throttles Central

Ali Abrew threw for 185 yards and two touchdowns to lead host Cal Poly San Luis Obispo to a 49-14 victory over Central Washington Saturday.

The Mustangs (1-3) had a commanding 42-14 lead after three quarters. The Wildcats (1-2) scored just once in the first half, that coming on a 1-yard run by Dan Murphy in the first quarter.

Cal Poly’s last score came on Andy Guyander’s 15-yard touchdown pass to Kaaron Conwright with 4:27 left in the game.

Cal Poly’s 296-yard rushing attack was led by Mike Allshouse, who had 22 carries for 123 yards and a touchdown. Craig Young and Troy Henry added 74 and 73 yards, respectively.

The Mustangs already led 21-7 by the end of the first quarter, thanks to scoring passes of 4 and 27 yards by Abrew, and a 4-yard touchdown run by Keith Washington.

Western 40, Puget Sound 0

At Bellingham, running back Ryan Wiggins rushed for 120 yards and scored two touchdowns to help Western Washington collect a nonconference victory over University of Puget Sound.

The win was the 12th straight regular-season triumph for the Vikings (2-0). It was the seventh consecutive road loss for the Loggers, who dropped to 0-2.

Wiggins ran the opening kickoff 89 yards for the first Western touchdown and the Vikings charged to a 31-0 halftime lead.

The Vikings defense held the Loggers to 119 yards for the game.
