Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: I tape school lunch menus and school semester calendars to the inside of the kitchen cabinet doors. This way, they don’t take up a lot of room on the refrigerator or bulletin board and we have easy access to them.

Also, for fund-raisers, I save UPC symbols and local grocery store receipts and I put them in a plastic bag that is taped on the inside of a door. When I have quite a few or I’m going to the organization collecting them, I just take the bag to them. - Diane Spangler, Springfield, Mo.

Dear Heloise: I kept my children’s baby blankets stored away for years. I did not have the heart to give them away, so I came up with a great idea. I sewed four of them together and they made a very nice double or standard-size blanket, and all the beautiful memories are still there. - Theresa Fargo, No. Little Rock, Ark.

Dear Heloise: I’m not sure if you would consider this a household hint or not. I’m a family photo buff. Every time someone in the family gets married or is in the local newspaper for something or other, I clip out the pictures or announcements for the family album.

Well, before I put the clipping in the album, I do my trick. I have clear self-adhesive shelving paper and I put the newspaper clipping between the two sheets, cut off the excess and, just like that, I have a laminated clipping to put in my album. - Smitty from Upstate New York
