Suspected Infiltrator Killed By S. Koreans

South Korean soldiers hunting suspected North Korean spies in rugged mountains Saturday shot and killed a soldier who was second in command of a grounded submarine, officials said.

Maj. Yu Rim, 38, was wearing South Korean army fatigues and carrying an M-16 rifle and a handgun when he was shot to death, the Defense Ministry said.

He was the 21st infiltrator to be killed or found dead since the abandoned submarine was spotted Sept. 18, beached just yards off the South Korean coast.
