With Di It’s Apparent, Blondes Have More Fun

Compiled By Staff Writer Dan Web

There’s just something about a princess. Especially if she’s rich and blonde. Especially if she’s wearing a curve-clinging, white beaded-lace, halter-neck heart-thumper.

Like the one Princess Diana was wearing during her recent visit to Washington for the glitz-ridden Salute to American Fashion.

Reduced to also-rans were supermodels Naomi Campbell and Amber Valletta, what with Isaac Mizrahi saying, “Charles really blew it when he dumped Diana. She’s divine.” And Colin Powell saying, “She’s a lot of fun.”

“This is one of the nicest British invasions that the White House has ever had,” First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton gushed. “The other one, some of you may remember from history, burned the place down.”

Loose talk

Tony Randall on being a 77-year-old father (on “Extra”): “We’ll have a world of fun. The idea of getting up at 5 in the morning to feed the child, I think that’s fun. I love the idea of the little boy growing up, me playing baseball with him when I’m 90.”

She can still put some Pepper in your pistol

Angie Dickinson turns 65 today.

She must have been influenced by the pony tail

After saving her paycheck to buy a new set of Barbies, “Fire Down Below” bit player Julie Mullins got a surprise. The 10-year-old Kentucky girl, whose family’s house burned down in February, received a tea set, a Barbie, dolls clothes and an basketball autographed by the movie’s star, Steven Seagal. “I gave him a hug,” Julie said. “He’s cute.”

The only gold in her hand now is her Visa card

During Princess Diana’s recent trip to Washington (see item at left), a certain piece of her jewelry was conspicuously absent. It was the first public appearance by the ex-wife of Prince Charles in which she didn’t wear her wedding ring.

To prepare for the show, the surviving Belushi smoked a cigar. “It gives you that raspy blues thing,” he said.

Except, of course, to continue to sing the blues

Member of the blues band Bellevue Cadillac are perhaps the most upset over the recent John F. Kennedy Jr.-Carolyn Bessette marriage. They turned down a mystery gig only to later find out it was for that wedding. “It rocked a lot of the guys in the band when we found out,” singer Doug Bell said. “There’s not much you can do about it.”

And a very big name for a little tiny girl

The recently birthed daughter of Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith is named Stella del Carmen Banderas Griffith. When asked, Banderas said all he could remember about her was that she was “a pretty brunette with blue eyes.”
