Young Adult Group Plans Retreat

The group Young Adult Beginning Experience (YABE) of Spokane is sponsoring a weekend retreat for young adults who have lived in a single-parent home through divorce, separation or death. The weekend is designed to give young adults over the age of 18 a chance to interact with other young adults who are in the same situation.

The weekend retreat is scheduled for April 11-13. YABE is sponsored by the Catholic Church but the retreat is open to people of all denominations.

Guest speaker at St. Nicholas

Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church, 1325 E. Queen, will host a guest speaker at the 8 and 10:30 a.m. worship services on Sunday.

Marcia Schrapps is the director of the Our Place outreach ministry located in the West Central neighborhood. She will speak about the ministry’s impact on the area. Our Place was established by the churches in the North Side neighborhood and provides food, clothing and other services to those who need it.

Rummage and bake sale held

Lidgerwood Presbyterian Church, 4449 N. Nevada, will host its annual rummage and bake sale Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The sale is sponsored by the women of the church. The women donate the proceeds to a different project each year. Free coffee will be served.

Christian bikers host service

The Mead United Methodist Church, 2515 E. Farwell Road, is hosting two services on Sunday organized by the Christian Motorcycle Association. The services will be at 8:30 and 11 a.m.

The youth of the church will host a Mexican Fiesta lunch at 12:30 p.m. The cost of the lunch is $3 per person. All proceeds will benefit the youth group.

Women’s voices in the community

A group of women from Audubon Park United Methodist Church will feature Rebecca Nappi of The Spokesman Review at their meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

Nappi’s topic is “Ways Women’s Voices are Heard in the Community.” All are invited to attend the meeting. Child care will be provided.
