Sandberg Picks Up Where He Left Off

New season, same old Eric Sandberg.

Eric Sandberg pitched a one-hitter and hit a pair of three-run home runs Thursday as Ferris opened its Greater Spokane League baseball schedule with a 10-0 win over visiting University (1-1).

Sandberg won the league’s triple crown (homers, runs batted in, batting average) last year and also led all pitchers in strikeouts.

Sandberg struck out 16, including eight straight, and had a no-hitter until Andy Price’s single with one out in the seventh.

Mike Kocharhook hit a two-run homer in the second and Kevin O’Connell added a two-run triple in the fifth for G-Prep.
