U.S. Supreme Court on Monday upheld the FCC’s so-called “must-carry” rule that requires cable-TV systems to carry broadcast stations.

In passing

Tom Heidlebaugh, author and poet who worked to revive and preserve Native American traditions, died of cancer Wednesday. He was 55.

Jolie Gabor, mother of Hungarian-born actresses Eva and Zsa Zsa died Tuesday at age 97.

Tomoyuki Tanaka, the Japanese producer who created the “Godzilla” film series, died of a stroke at age 86 Wednesday.

Manfred Westheimer, who was married to sex therapist Ruth Westheimer, died Thursday of complications from a stroke suffered last week. He was 70.

Henriette Wyeth, a world-renowned painter, died Thursday. She was 89.

This week

Monday: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrives in Washington, D.C. for talks with President Clinton.

Also: Federal indictments are expected to be handed down against Brian Ratigan, the fourth suspect in the Spokane Valley bombings and robberies.
