Mother To 17 Kids Pregnant With Quints

Compiled From Wire Services

An Arab Israeli woman already raising 17 children is pregnant again with quintuplets, a newspaper said Sunday.

“Five is a lucky number,” said the father, Abdel Munim Daubshe. “I have already prepared names for them: Shalom, Hussein, Rabin, Clinton” after the Hebrew word for peace, Jordan’s King Hussein, slain Israeli leader Yitzhak Rabin and President Clinton.

Any girls would be named Nur, after the Jordanian queen, and Leah, for Rabin’s widow.

The mother-to-be, identified only as Hitam, is 30 and has six children from a previous marriage. Adbel, whose first marriage was even more fruitful, has 11 children. They married four months ago, and a month later the quintuplets were conceived, the Yediot newspaper said.

The mother’s physician Yael Barkan said she was not taking fertility drugs, which makes the odds of conceiving quintuplets one in 65 million.
