Jackpot! Video Set Offers Strategies For Casino Gambling Tapes Filled With Advice On Blackjack, Craps And Slots

Martie Zad The Washington Post

A detailed guide on how to learn the essential information needed to maximize your odds at playing blackjack, craps or the slot machines is available on “The Winning Strategies,” a three-volume, home-video set from Goldhil Home Media.

Gambling is as popular as ever, according to casino owners from Las Vegas to Atlantic City and many Indian reservations and offshore luxury liners, among the locations where games of chance are legal.

James Coburn hosts the videos and takes viewers behind the scenes into the world of cards, dice and slot machines on the videos, simply titled, “Blackjack,” “Craps” and “Slots.”

The tapes are based on the proven methods detailed in Frank Scoblete’s best-sellers, “Beat the Craps Out of the Casinos,” “Guerrilla Gambling” and “Break the One-Armed Bandits.” The 50-minute volumes describing legal methods for beating the casinos are $19.95 each, (800) 250-8760.

“Blackjack” covers when to hit, when to stand and when to surrender. It also describes six categories of blackjack players, how to maximize your bet and minimize risk, when to double down and when to take insurance, as well as advanced techniques of bombing for blackjack and scanning for insurance.

“Craps” includes tips on odds you must know, secrets of pass/don’t-pass and come/ don’t-come betting, bets you must avoid, when to press, money-management techniques, how to gain the mental edge and casino comps to help get the most for your money.

“Slots” includes tips on how slots work, best basic strategies, which machines to play and to avoid, going-down and percentage-play techniques, and popular myths about slots.

For the family

Card playing need not be all gambling. It can be family fun, as it was a generation or two ago, when mom, dad, children and grandparents gathered around the kitchen table for a game or, on a summer vacation, played endless games of Hearts.

Vicki Kelchner, from Discover Images L.L.C., in Fort Wayne, Ind., has come up with three videos to help recapture that lost art of a family card game: “Rummy,” “Hearts” and “Euchre.” Each has a running time of 30 minutes, lists for $12.99, and can be ordered at (888) 752-9255.

Kelchner believes that it won’t be long before families with these new videos will be turning off the television and sitting down to a family card game. Children 10 and older can follow the video instructions.

An instruction manual is included as well as a winner’s diary, in which the winner can sign off with a dated comment. Kelchner’s family had a board they signed, which she said is still a joy to read 25 years later.
