Part Of Dufort Road Closed To Traffic

Dufort Road is closed from Priest River to Spirit Lake Road to any traffic, the Bonner County Road Department announced Wednesday.

The hillside above the roadway is unstable and the county has stopped working on the road because of the unstable conditions and budgetary constraints.

The road will remain closed for at least the next two weeks or until the roadbed stops sliding. The road has deteriorated to the point where cars are unable to pass on it.

Other county roads also closed because of landslides and roadbed failures are Lakeview Road, Albeni Cove Road, the south end of Hoo Doo Loop, and Old Priest River Road.
