Benscheidt Will Be Wwp Spokesman

From Staff And Wire Reports

Washington Water Power Co. Friday announced former CBS Evening News director and producer Carl Benscheidt will manage all its corporate communications.

A Hayden Lake resident, Benscheidt’s responsibilities will include community and media relations, corporate contributions, special events and crisis communications.

He has worked with top CBS correspondents like Dan Rather and Mike Wallace. Last fall, he directed one of the presidential debates between Bill Clinton and Robert Dole.

WWP Chairman Paul Redmond said Benscheidt’s background will be helpful to the company as the utility industry changes.

“As we enter an era of increasing deregulation and national competition for our industry, Carl Benscheidt’s national focus and experience will prove a valuable asset,” he said.

Benscheidt will devote about two-thirds of his time to his duties at WWP. He will also continue to do special assignments for CBS, and act as chief executive officer of his own firm, The Benscheidt Communications Group.
