East Sherman Work Nearing Completion

From Staff And Wire Reports

With the underground electrical system, water service lines, and storm sewer already complete, road improvement work on East Sherman should be finished by the week of May 21.

That’s almost a month ahead of schedule, which is good news for business owners who may have worried how the project would affect traffic during the first part of summer.

“It’s looking pretty good if the weather keeps holding for us,” said Wade Newsom, of J-U-B Engineers in Coeur d’Alene. “We’re at the point where the only thing that could hold us back would be sidewalk work if we get any bad weather. Everything else is quite a bit ahead of schedule.”

By now, curbs also are complete up to Ninth Street, and sidewalks as far as 14th. Engineers expect to apply the first layer of asphalt from 18th to 13th streets next week, as well as installing curbs another block further to Ninth and sidewalks all the way to 11th.
