Ladies Golf Season Tees Off

Ladies golf clubs at local courses are beginning another season. Can spring be far behind?

During two weeks at Valley View Golf Course, Anne Meyers and Gladys Alden led A flight with 43 and 44 low gross scores.

B flight was led by Charlotte Greene with 55, and Pat Lacroix and Cathy Mileson with 56s.

Mary Ann Barham’s net scores of 26 and 34 topped A golfers. Cleo Workland, Genevra Barrett and Monica Ryan at 33 led B flight, and Margie Bratcher netted 34 and 30 to lead C flight.

No handicap golfer Merilyn Lloyd shot a 51.

Liberty Cup first round

The season is barely begun but already a round of the Liberty Lake Ladies 18-Hole Club Liberty Cup has been played.

Low net of the field was B flight golfer Carol Bettinger who shot 71. Marlene Thies shot low gross 92.

In A flight, Kerri Barham netted 72 on a round of 86, in C flight Connie Hatfield netted 72 on a round of 104 and in D flight Phyliss Bunkowske netted 72 on a round of 110.

Fewest putts were recorded by Barham and Jill Grover in A flight with 30, by Bettinger and Mabel Watkins in B flight with 33, by Margaret Brasheadrs with 30 in C flight and by Bunkowske with 34 in D.

First outing by 9-Holers

During the first outing of Liberty Lake Ladies 9-Hole Golf Club, Toby Pfeifer in A flight and Holly Neff in B flight shared honors with low gross 54 scores.

Sue Matsui in C flight and Deanna Hanson in D, each shot 63.

Net leaders were Joyce Jacobs with 39 in A flight, Lorraine Martin with 35 in B and Betty Trembly with 36 in C.

Painted Hills ladies begin

Painted Hills Ladies Golf Club began its season with medal play on Monday.

Deanna Tucker shot 49 in A flight, Ellan Bohannon had 51 in B, the same score as no-handicap golfer Carol Blume.

In C flight, Carol Grebe shot 55, and in D, Elaine Isherwood had a 61.

Net winners were Lori Gray with 36 in A flight, Sharon Meier with 34 in B, including a birdie on the second hole. Colleen Weflen had 31 in C and Nancy Moore had 30 in D.

Next Thursday, Hangman Valley Ladies Club begins its season with an 8:30 a.m. start.
