Manito Tree Removal Topic Of Park Meeting

From Staff And Wire Reports

Parks officials are holding a meeting Monday with neighbors living near Manito Park to talk about the logging at the duck pond.

The meeting will be at 6 p.m. in the picnic shelter east of the pond.

The city is removing most of the old cottonwood and willow trees surrounding the pond because of damage during last fall’s ice storm and rot inside the trunks.

Parks officials said they will explain their plan for the removal and replanting of new 16-foot trees.
