Construction Begins On Middle School

From Staff And Wire Reports

The public is invited to a groundbreaking ceremony today for the Coeur d’Alene School District’s new middle school.

It will start at 4 p.m. at the school site, on Kathleen Avenue across from the U.S. Forest Service nursery. Those attending should take Dalton Avenue to St. Michele, and park at the north end.

School board chair Wanda Quinn, superintendent Doug Cresswell and principal Jim Lien will speak. The Canfield Middle School jazz band will perform.

Construction will begin immediately on the 26-acre site, district officials said. The $9.5 million school, designed for 750 students, is scheduled to open in the fall of 1998.
