Film Focuses On Battle To Save Family’s Farm

John Martin New York Times Syndicate

It’s a story that’s been decades in the making: the changing economics of farming force families from the land they’ve held for generations to face urban life.

“Troublesome Creek: A Midwestern,” KSPS at 9, is an intimate portrait of an Iowa couple struggling to keep their farm in the face of crippling debts.

This Academy Award-nominated documentary, narrated by filmmaker Jeanne Jordan, follows the liquidation of the farm she grew up on and her parents’ transition to city life.
