Police Arrest West Side Man After Fatal High-Speed Car Chase

From Staff And Wire Reports

An Auburn man accused of leading police on a fatal chase has been arrested for investigation of vehicular homicide and felony eluding.

The man was identified as Jeffrey Martin, 31.

A passenger in Martin’s car, Amy Sue Deines, 35, of Seattle, was killed when their car collided Friday night with a car driven by two teenagers.

Martin and the two 17-year-old were injured, but were reported in satisfactory condition Saturday.

The crash occurred near the Emerald Downs race track, on an overpass at Washington 167.

An Auburn police report said the car being pursued reached speeds of 60 mph in a 35 mph zone, and weaved across lanes, finally swerving into oncoming traffic and hitting the car with the teens.
