Man Gets Six Months For Moscow Beating
In his second court appearance in a week, Larry O. Hannaman was sentenced Wednesday to six months in Latah County Jail for beating a Coeur d’Alene man in a Moscow motel room last Sept. 4.
Judge W.C. Hamlett called Hannaman a “tough guy” with a violence problem before handing out the maximum sentence, which allows the 21-year-old University of Idaho engineering student to complete the school semester in an education-release program.
Two days earlier in Kootenai County, Hannaman was sentenced to six months in jail for assault for beating a 40-year-old Coeur d’Alene man unconscious with a beer bottle, then kicking the man in the head.
In that case, Hannaman also was sentenced to four years of probation after a more serious felony battery judgment was withheld by District Court Judge Gary Haman.
In Wednesday’s sentencing, Hannaman was ordered to pay victim Drew Grieb, 22, a North Idaho College student, an undisclosed amount of restitution for medical expenses, lost wages, and a gold necklace damaged in the attack.
